Day 330

I have gained 1lb this month but this is accounted for I think by my efforts with exercise. Hard to see in the photos but my arms are definitely bigger and my chest and back are also growing. I have been working hard on my lats and finally starting to get some shape.

There have been a few days this month involving drinking sessions due to beer festivals. For the purrists thats not very Paleo but I stand by fermented drinks being part of humans for millions of years so it cannot be that bad. Anyway its just a life choice.

Due to this series of articles I have reduced my pork consumption: http://perfecthealthdiet.com/2012/02/pork-did-leviticus-117-have-it-right/ . I am not about to cut pork out of my diet  but I think probably bacon and ham had become too frequent. A lesson learned but then this is a journey not a destination.

I have increased my fish consumption. Nearby there is a great fish monger and they have a good variety at an excellent price point.

I am quite excited that I have managed to be Paleo for nearly a year and not once have I been tempted to go back to my old lifestyle.

In all honesty I think alcohol remains my biggest evil and I am going to work on reducing it. Right now I casually drink and I think I just need to box that up and maybe limit it to 2 days a week.

Anyway here is Day 1 vs Day 330

Day 1

Day 330

BTW I am not as pale as that photo would suggest its just the lighting in the room I was stood in. Looks like I might have to trim the chest rug or I wont have a really great before and after photo for my 1 year anniversary like you see in the back of trashy magazines lol. The one thing missing is the 6 pack but I don't actually do enough of that type of exercise to have that maybe I will add that to my future plans but I am not too bothered.

Day 300 weight stable for 100+ days

So its Day 300 my weight has only changed by 1lb in the entire 100 days, I have been working hard with weight training but also I have eaten a hell of a lot of meat this month. It is BBQ season, I guess our cavemen ancestors must have scoffed during the summer months and then had leaner times during the winter.

Still that is the upside to Paleo I can afford to eat plenty of what I want as my body uses it or just discards it.

Talking with my friends on https://www.facebook.com/groups/paleouk/ I am going to mix things up a little next month. I am going to cut my fruit down a little bit and I am going to introduce some different exercises. I think I might be able to burn another 8lbs if I put the right effort into my exercise. We will see. I am not too bothered if my weight stays the same as its pretty good and it is close to my fight weight I think for my physical size.

Day 1

Day 300

Will need smaller shorts next year as you can see by the gather with my belt holding them up!

Day 270 gained 1lb

This month I have been working hard in the gym to try and gain some muscle, I feel like I have and that should account for the 1lb gain. For the first time ever my arms are now larger than my neck. I have gained about 1.5 inches on my arms since I started.

Day 280

Paleo is a lifestyle not just a diet, if you are considering trying it out do it!

Day 240 No Change

I continue to be at my fight weight, but I feel like I have added a bit more muscle so I must have lost some fat to make room for it. Diet is still Paleo as always. Have had a really sore throat this month but still no sign of Asthma and my hay fever has not shown up either although I expect that is down to our rubbish British weather. Very intrigued to see if the sun does turn up before Winter returns if the hay fever stays away without medication.

Weight training is going well and also managing to go out for 20 mile cycle rides which I plan to build on through the so called warmer months.

Day 1

Day 240

OMG looking at thos pictures I am still amazed... I am eating so well on Paleo... It has got to the point I could not go back to my old ways of eating. The very thought of bread blurgh! and I never thought I would say this but I do not want to eat pasta again either, I realise now it is just matter and all those lovely Italian flavours are still available in my Paleo diet, I just have vegetables instead.

Day 210 (35lbs gone!)

I now weigh 199 lbs or 14st 3lbs or 90.2kg  depending on your units. I would say this is about my perfect weight. I am looking forward to the Summer and the changes to what I am eating it will bring. Now the warmer weather is arriving I plan to take my food South to the Mediterranean and possibly some South American and Caribbean flavours. I have been a bit slack with keeing posts of what I am cooking just in case anyone actually reads these lol.

Anyway here is the day 1, day 210 comparison... Paleo for life!

Day 180 (32 lbs gone)

Ok its slowing up on the loss front but I guess I am reaching my fight weight. This month I have not been doing so much exercise, I took a week off as a holiday and then after only another week I picked up a small back injury as my back spasmed at the end of my routine. Nothing serious but I will have to rest it for a couple of weeks to make sure it heals.

Also there have been a couple of occasions involving chips lol but I allowed myself to indulge as it was part of a family thing. For me I am dedicated to Paleo but I am not a total zealot about it.

Happily following a Paleo lifestyle is completely normal to me now and I no longer have to remind myself I am doing it, I just do.

Day 1

Day 180

I will say it again if you are thinking about going Paleo do it! There are no bad side effects, you will get all the   nutrients you need. In fact since following Paleo I have not been ill during the same period as all my friends, family and work colleagues have all had sickness of some kind. I have not had one asthma attack, I have not taken my asthma pump or steroid either. I eat really great food that tastes good and covers all I need. When I exercise I have a bundle of energy. Paleo until the death of me. Any negative reviews you may read about Paleo are wrong it is simply good living and removing all the crap.

Paleo Fast Food aka as it comes

The longer I follow the Paleo lifestyle the more I come to realise that I can just eat the food as it is, no need to cook it. This is becoming more and more a feature of breakfast and lunch. Not only is it easy, it tastes great and I am getting all of the nutrients. It might not be for everyone's digestive system but it works for me.

Spinach, Carrot, Orange... simple delicious.

Day 150

Today I weigh 14 st 7 lbs (203 lbs) that is a 31 lb drop in weight and I have to say I feel pretty good about it. Several members of my friends and family have had a bunch of ills over the last few weeks, including norovirus and yet I have managed to stay well. I could just be lucky but I also think if you are fueling your body correctly it must be more efficient as it is not dealing with unnecessary toxins.

I have started improving my diet further by choosing vegetables that are claimed to be chemical/pesticide free (I say claim because I would never be so naive to believe I was being told the truth on food). It is more expensive but there are a number of tangible benefits, the main one being the taste. Tomatoes are particularly worth the money, mass produced Tomatoes just taste of nothing.

Anyway here is the comparison:

Day 1

Day 150

Looking at those photos I am in shock, to give it perspective my chest is approximately the same size (42') but my waist is about 4+' thinner. I am also functionally stronger and probably the best shape of my entire adult life.

Moving forward I plan to continue improvement to my diet and I am going to add more cardio to my exercise regime. Looking forward to the weather settling enough so I can go cycling which I will be able to because since going Paleo my bad right knee has healed!

Feeling good, feeling happy and living more simple.

For anyone considering trying Paleo... I absolutely recommend it.

Day 120 (27lbs lighter!)

I was a child the last time I weighed 14st 11lbs (207lbs or 93.9 Kg). Paleo has been an incredible journey so far, I have learnt more about food than I ever knew before (and I have been a hobby chef for a long time), I have built exercise into my daily routine. On a weekly basis I am walking at least 18 - 24 miles, I go to the gym 3 x a week, I do sit ups everyday (with a 7,5Kg kettle bell held above my head) and I also have a kettle bell routine which I do at weekends. There is no more room for anymore exercise so now it will be a slow progression to increase the resistance and vary the exercises.

Paleo UK on Facebook have been inspirational
Paleo/Primal on Google+ is a new group I have joined with great recipes

Anyway here is the result:
